THE HILARIOUS COVID-19 PANDEMIC Part 2 of the Furtherance of Stupidity in 2021

THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR SHED II

When the entertainment venues hold onto mask mandates, social possibilities are limited

Rodent Condominiums.

And that’s the positive spin on so-called outdoor dining. If there were other options for getting out of the apartment, we would do them in a, ahem, New York Minute. But Warren Wilhelm and Sonny Cuomo seem determined to destroy the theater.

As long as the nighttime temperature stays at 40 degrees or higher, our support for the restaurants and their workers will continue.

     The target this time?

Café Luxembourg on West 70th Street, a fave of ours BEFORE the stupidity.

And I am sad to report, I have nothing to report.

Except for the teeth-chattering temperatures, Café Luxembourg was as cozy and hospitable. Looked out the ¼” glass window in the shed. Watched as few New Yorkers slogged through the ice, slush, and snow still on the streets.

     Kafkaesque.

And that’s the best to be said about the general personality of Manhattan.

Café Luxembourg, however, different. Different vibe. Different energy. It felt like a post Lincoln Center drink. As if the significant other and I had just taken in “Glass Pieces” at the Met, or Rachmaninov’s second at the Philharmonic.

Patrons laughed. Some of the servers chucked their masks for long stretches. The bartenders told jokes.

     It was 2019.

Bill de Blasio had yet to destroy New York City.

But he is doing his level best to do so.
